to an entire generation (or 2) of fans, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles perhaps exists only via cartoons and commercial toys that flooded the market a decade or two ago ('80s) and hell, even the live-action movies, or more recently the animated film ... and as much reference as hypemakers would refer to the origins of the quartet of ninja-turtles, very little may not necessarily recognize nor perhaps even seen the original design and black & white artwork by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird (creators of TMNT).
now NECA's set to remedy that with the new TMNT Action Figure Series 1 based on aforementioned art, featuring Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael and Donatello in a NYCC-exclusive box set (that will include the four turtles along with all of the accessories that come with the individually packaged figures / info via) ... but THIS image (above-right) of a B&W-painted upcoming series, as shown during the New York Toy Fair 2008 [pic via ToplessRobot] truly is a sweet-piece and concept, IMHO ... meanwhile, CLICK HERE for more TMNT :)

Love this line of "true" turtles.
Isn't there an April O'Neil figure too.
yes there is Philip ... there is to be an April and a Foot Soldier ... but April looked quite like a buffed-Cher tho:
